Ten Mile Base Camp

Nestled just outside the Pintler Wilderness Area in Southwestern Montana, Stockton Outfitters’ Ten-Mile Cr. Base Camp is seated at an approximate 7,300 ft. elevation. The terrain is high yet very gentle in grade making it pleasurable to hunt. The camp sits aside Ten-Mile Creek which drains down to Mill Creek below and eventually into the Big Hole River. The majestic Mount Henry sits high (10,500 ft.) as a back drop to the endless miles of roadless country which are accessed by foot. Ten-Mile Cr. Base Camp is accessed by custom Jeeps and provides a comfortable yet western experience. Mouth Watering meals are prepared daily by our Camp Chef.

I am 64 years old and am proud of myself for doing the miles I did on foot. My guide was a hearty soul and I did my best to keep up. I truly enjoyed the experience as a whole. The food was a major plus as I’m an unhinged “chow hound” and the accommodations were great. My #1 goal was to harvest a mule deer buck. I was presented multiple opportunities and accomplished my goal.

It was beautiful country and my guide was fantastic. I got multiple opportunities, enjoyed every minute in the field and at camp and most importantly harvested a beautiful blond bear. In fact, my partner Paul shot a chocolate bear on the first day and I closed the week with a blond. You could say we went home with chocolate and vanilla. I will be back.

This was the fifth tent camp I hunted elk from. Yours was the nicest I’ve been in. The lantern on the walk way, the carpet in the tents and the table and chair were a nice touch. But the icing on the cake was my Bull. Thanks for your honesty and a great experience.

As first time bear hunters, this was a blast!! Dad and I loved the hunting locations and cabins proximity to hunting. Food was as good as any 5 star restaurant in the “City”. We were hoping to harvest a couple of black bears. Not only did we do that, but we discovered a new favorite hunt & outfitter.

Mark, thanks for an EXCELLENT hunting experience! You truly tested my abilities; and when it came down to it, you delivered…. I remember walking up the mountain with you thinking the terrain was too thick, and snow too squeaky-loud under our boots to get within reasonable range of my trophy for a shot, after we watched 3 cows walk off. I recall telling you this, and your response “you sell real estate, and I’ll get you your Elk.” It was only about 15 minutes later that you called in the 5×5 Bull I was after. What an awesome hunt, and experience!!! I doubt you will ever forget the excitement in my voice. Thanks for the memories!
